Wrap yourself in a rich blend of tightly woven harmonies, interspersed with strands of harp, bagpipes, accordion, & fiddle.
Traditional and eclectic Celtic styles interlaced to form, Crooked Kilt.
Crooked Kilt is a family band. We have been playing in the Spokane area for well over 20 years.
It is hard to classify our music as we play such a variety of styles. That is why we call ourselves Crooked Kilt.
We are chiefly Celtic music, but everything we play has a flavor of some other style.
Thank you, friends for supporting us by purchasing all of our four CD's to take home and enjoy!
Tom (Carla's brother-in-law) plays guitar and bagpipes and sings.
As an instrumentalist, Tom incorporates a wide variety of instruments into our unique sound. Including tin whistles, harp, mouth organ, trombone, bass, banjo, and mandolin.
He has also played in the band, "Finesse" as a rock 'n roll guitarist and singer. He owns Antique Auto Ranch, and also owns and operates his own recording studio
Carla (Tom's sister-in-law) plays fiddle, keyboards, accordion, and sings. She offers her musical direction to two other groups, and plays piano for a church. Each CD features at least one of her piano compositions, arranged by the band.
Carla holds a Music Degree in Composition from Whitworth, and a Music Therapy degree from Marylhurst University, and works as a Music Therapist in her own private practice, Willow Song Music Therapy Services, LLC. http://willowsongmusictherapy.com/
Vocals, Percussion, and Bodhran.
Part of the original Crooked Kilt, Anna is honored to be back playing music with her family. Whether it be laying down a deep rhythmic groove or adding harmonies to a highland ballad, Anna's love for the music shines through.
Vocals, Celtic Harp, and Bodhran.
After hearing Sarah sing at a Harvest Festival several years ago, Crooked Kilt knew she would make an excellent addition to the sounds desired in the band. Sadly, her contact info was lost, and we didn't know how to reach her for quite some time. Happily, we reconnected in 2016, and quickly recruited her to Crooked Kilt! What a joy to have her angelic voice singing on CKIII and Charlie's Lament!
Sarah also plays and sings with her husband, Clinton, in their duo, Carter Junction. Together, they perform a number of originals, cowboy, and Celtic music featuring her voice, bodhran, and harp, along with Clinton's rich base voice and guitar. Often, Carter Junction performs as an opening band for Crooked Kilt.
Carla met Kevin at Spokane Falls Community College in 2005 where they played together in some ensembles. Recognizing his skills on both bass and guitar, she invited him to play Celtic Music with her. Thankfully, he graciously accepted, and has been a welcomed asset to Crooked Kilt ever since. Kevin plays in a number of other groups around the Spokane area as well.
Mckenzie joined the band in 2018, debuting with her stellar percussion skills at the Scottish Highland games. Her lovely voice elevates the band's harmonies to another level. She has a performance degree from the University of Idaho.
